The relay is now finished, and within the next few days I will hopefully have a better public document available including the conlang versions and torch contents so you can see exactly how it all changed.
Thank you to everyone that participated! Overall I think that things went pretty well, and it was my first time running a relay so your positive and friendly involvement was very welcome. This is the final step of the relay, and after the translation from Jai’s Tarojan into English is complete, I will post the full results of the relay as soon as possible!
The relay is almost complete now — Jai has received the text in Eldraeic from Cerebralicious, and will now be translating into Tarojan!
Except this actually happened a few days ago, sorry for that. Cerebralicious is translating out of SanguineEpitaph’s Ƚaá Siri and into Eldraeic.
Getting near the end now… Please remember to send a copy of the torch to the relay address (plus your smooth-English translation for comparison once the relay is over)!
Pitselly has translated the text into Belersian, so now we will have SanguineEpitaph giving us the Ƚaá Siri version.

Setavulos has given Christinathena the Anikele text to translate into Classical Kasshian over the next few days.

I finished with the conlang relay thing, now I’m free to relax. Great experience, by the way. Useful too. But I’m sure I totally misunderstood the meaning of the text :D
Well, with my part. (Just need to write the gloss for my translation and then I can send the emails.) I’m glad that I finally finished. It was great, albeit somewhat frustrating at one point. I already know that some parts didn’t translate so well, though. Whoops!
Protip: Make sure when you make the gloss you don’t forget the punctuation from the original text. I could have been done two days ago if I didn’t forget a period separating two sentences. When you’re not acquainted with the syntax of the conlang you’re translating from, these things become important. Don’t make my mistakes and double- and triple-check things before you confuse yourself.
Dari Benetka has translated the text into Kurenki, so now Setavulos will be translating into Anikele. Let’s see how this goes :D
The first participant, Dari Benetka, will be translating from Rtakai into Kurenki. As long as all goes well, Setavulos will receive the torch in a few days.
It’s almost time for the relay! The schedule has been basically set and can be viewed on the roster page, whereas the rules have been updated a little.
Time limits: The general time limit for each turn is 3 days/72 hours. Of course, sometimes things come up, so it’s not especially tight. On top of that we are spread across a bunch of different timezones. This means that you might receive the torch when you’re working or sleeping and miss out on some translating time but once again, don’t worry too much.

The torch: The torch is what you send on to the next participant when your turn is up. It must contain:

If the information in the torch you are sent doesn’t seem sufficient you can communicate with the person before you to work on your translation. You can also contact the coordinator and person following you if you need more time.
Sorry for the lack of update since last week! Things are coming together a bit more now and I’ve got a relay text almost ready.
Relay date: For less of a rush I think we can start the relay around the 3rd of September (start of next weekend). If that sounds like a problem, you know what to do (and if you don’t — what you should do is get in touch).
Schedule: At the moment participants are listed on the Roster page in roughly the order they got in contact. With the tentative starting date mentioned above and a roughly 3-day time limit, are there any particular few days that anyone would prefer? Otherwise, a random order might be most fair. If nobody has any input on the schedule I’ll email one out closer to the relay to check it’s all fine.
Emails: A few more participants have sent in their emails and have been added to the list. Sorry to harp on about it, but if you’d like to participate please make sure to send a short email (conlang you’ll most likely use, username we can recognise you by, any comments or requests) even if you have already expressed interest.
Time rules: The time limit for each person to translate is for now going to be 72 hours (3 days) from receiving an email from the previous person. This is just a casual and pretty small relay so if you will need an extra day, that’ll be fine if you make sure to notify! If it turns out that you will be too busy or won’t have enough time, you can pass and take a turn at the end instead. Also, once we have a couple more participants in it for certain we can set up a schedule.
Relay date: A tentative date for starting the relay would be in the last few days of August or perhaps the first day of September. That way there is time to sort out the schedule and make sure everything is running smoothly (and of course get the starting text done up!). Just letting you know that it will still most likely be starting at least a week away, so don’t think that it has fallen through when there aren’t any updates.
Updates: Once the relay has started, there’ll be an update on this Tumblr every time the “torch” is passed onto the next participant — so that you can keep track of how it is progressing. For those who aren’t familiar with relays, I’ll post up some more detailed rules for the “torch” a bit before we start.
Names: A small thing but hopefully one that might make things just a little nicer. If you’d like others in the relay to know you by a name other than the one given on the Roster page feel free to mention in an email.
If you’d like to join the relay, please email fyeahconlangs @ gmail . com in good time. Plenty of you have expressed interest on the original post, which is great, but email addresses are needed for the relay itself.
